The Trophy

We always wanted to build something big to support our community, and a golden trophy was our main motivation and the reason this project exists. We wanted to design something smart, sophisticated, yet easy to produce. We envisioned a genuine piece of art one would be proud to display in their living room10 years later. Something that does not scream, “That is an award!” Having that in mind we leaned into an Art Deco style.

And the design itself is also symbolic. The center piece is a dress form with a flowing capethat forms wings, representing the craft of cosplay. It is wrapped inside a very abstract camera aperture and a frame, capturing the soul of photography.

Finding the right size was a bit of trial and error. We initially modeled it at 25cm tall after popular trophies, but once we made a physical mockup, we realized it was way too bulky. It looked foreign on a table or a shelf and way bigger than common household items. We scaled it down by 20%, and it hit the absolute sweet spot. The final piece dimensions are 20x15cm.

The trophy will be gifted only to the winner of the Ultimate Picture of the Year category, who is selected among the nominees of all categories.
